I have always disliked taking pictures, unless I had a few to many to drink well then you could not get me away from that camera. Ahh the mortifying courage juice induced "sexy pictures" that tell the story of my early to mid 20's. Since those carefree years I haven't had the courage to take "sexy pictures" again. My identity has changed since those days, I am now a mom of three kids whose body has morphed into this image I didn't recognize. My idea of sexy has turned into shaving my legs once every two weeks for a scheduled date night with scheduled sex and my lame attempt to wear some form of sexy lingerie..pathetic! The honest truth is I had no idea how to be sexy anymore, and come to think of it I don't think I ever believed I truly was sexy to begin with...

Here is the thing I was blessed with a hot husband, I know all women say that about their husbands but mine is HOT!! For example I can't even go to the grocery store with him without women giving him the come get me eyes, smiling at him or going as far as asking him out when I take one of the kids to the bathroom. The women shamelessly hit on him are not average looking they are sexy and range from all age groups. Exhausting! The sweetest thing is that he politely declines their advances and tells me all about it. When I am present he just holds my hand tighter to reassure me that I am the only one for him. I knew I had to find a way to reward this man, my faithful sexy husband who puts up with my body image issues, constant complaining and sad attempts at date nights. I decided to schedule a Boudoir shoot. My friend Tracey started her own Boudoir Photography business and was running a special on her Facebook page. I mean it is not like I have not seen her advertisements before or sneak peeks of her clients pictures and thought "maybe one day when I lose weight" or  " not pretty enough for pics like this" but this advertisement felt different. I knew I had to repay my husband for his continued loyalty to me, he could have a Skittles variety of women at his disposal but decides everyday that I am enough for him. I just kept staring at the message App for Facebook trying to find the courage to book my appointment, after a few hours of back and forth I finally did.

My appointment was confirmed and I was scared to death, my mind was going a million miles a minute. My mind was filled with thoughts of self-doubt and the urge to cancel. Reminders such as these kept running through my head; I am not in my 20's anymore, I am now plus size, I have  c-section scars, I have acne, stretch marks, cellulite, fat rolls,  small lips, thin hair... I felt as though I made a mistake but it was too late to back out now. I already told my husband about the appointment and he was beyond excited about the pictures. I decided to put on my big girl panties and put on my thinking cap, I had decisions to make regarding wardrobe and decided on a Chicago Cubs theme ( hubby's favorite team). I had no idea what to expect when it came to the shoot itself I just panicked thinking of my friend seeing all of my ugly out in the open. I was hoping and praying that Tracy could find a way to work with what I had.

The day of my photo shoot I was a hot mess all day at work. My appointment was not until the evening and I kept trying to think of scenarios in my head on how this might play out. I contemplated on getting drunk before I went to the appointment but decided against it in fear of making a fool out of myself. I knew I just needed to face the music and pull of the band aid . When I arrived it was not at all what I expected. Tracey answered the door to her shop with a warm inviting smile and invited me in, she already had upbeat music playing and showed me where to put my belongings. We immediately got started on my hair and make-up and she talked to me about life which distracted me from feeling nervous. Tracey has this gift of getting you to open up and feel comfortable instantly, by the time my hair and make up was done I felt relaxed. The unexpected thing was I felt at home.

As Tracey got her props and lights set up I got dressed and I felt my adrenaline throbbing through my veins, I knew this was happening my flawed body was about to be in images. I walked into the room with my outfit on and Tracy smiled complimented my choice and asked me to sit on a couch. She took a few test shots and then coached me on how to sit on the couch, move my head, push my feet and knees up and started to shoot. She guided me through a few more pictures I though surely  those pictures will look ridiculous with the strange ways she had me hold my body..but she exclaimed "You have to see yourself!" "So Hot!" I started laughing in disbelief until she showed me a shot on her camera screen. I didn't recognize the person in the picture. I thought who is this person?!

Tracy just smiled at me in a way of knowing what I was feeling  and just guided me through the rest of my shoot. Each shot she took I found more courage and a feeling of being alive. I felt feminine, sexy, I no longer cared that my flaws were showing. Tracy continued to encourage me by showing me some of her favorite shots when we switched poses. Each image she shared with me ignited fire within me to embrace my inner sexy.

When the shoot was over I felt different..I know sounds strange but I did. I put on the clothes I came in with and they felt wrong with my sexy hair and make-up. I still felt on fire and confident and my clothing didn't reflect that at all! My clothing spoke "I am hiding from the world" and " please don't notice me" which now I felt the latter. The fire that was ignited in me during the shoot was not ready to be put out and was yelling at me all the way home. You are sexy! You are desirable! You are worthy! Stop hiding! Embrace your curves! Stop comparing yourself to others! You are unique! You are talented! Live your life!

It has been a year since my first Boudoir shoot with the amazing Tracey Long and my life has drastically changed. Never in million years would I have thought that this photo shoot was actually for me instead of my husband. Sure my husband liked the pictures but he already thought I was sexy! I just had to start believing my self that I am. I no longer have sad attempts of sexy date nights,I am now sexy for him and myself everyday!! Do I have days that go back to my old thinking? Sure! That is when I pull out my pictures to reignite my fire and remind myself to never be that old person again and snap out of it.

Take my advice ladies Boudoir Sessions with Tracey lead to the first steps of self-love..  Let her help you ignite your fire and start believing!

  • 1. Groom yourself like you’re going on your honeymoon weekend. Shave anything that needs shaving, wax what needs waxing, tweeze, trim, etc. Also don’t forget to touch up your roots! It’s likely that you’ll be up close and personal with your photographer, stylist and make-up crew so good prep means you can relax knowing nobody is staring at your fuzzy bikini line.
  • 2. Don’t forget your nails! Have well trimmed and shaped toenails and fingernails, trim and moisturize those cuticles, and paint your nails. If you have an aversion to polish- and least do a clear coat on all twenty digits.
  • 3. If you want to wear a garter belt and stockings, avoid anything that is designed to “stay up” on its own. Rubberized “thigh highs” and “stay ups” can make even the most toned thighs look like sausage. There are lots of online retailers that specialize in classic stockings that won’t bind your legs. Also, if you have less than toned thighs, a good trick is to find some completely sheer “sheer to waist” pantyhose as a foundation. (Make sure they are not control top! A good choice- Sheer Energy Sheer to Waist- they have the green stripe on the box.) The pantyhose will make your legs looks great, and then you can pull the stockings over them to have the stocking look with toned upper thigh.
  • 4. It’s all in the face! Pin-Ups are all about facial expression & personality. Find your personal “pin-up personality”. Are you smoldering and sexy? Cute and playful? Figure it out and spend some real time in front of the mirror finding out what expressions are best for you. Do what comes comfortably and most natural and your pictures will show that. We can always tell who has practiced faces before the shoot, and even a little practice means better pictures.
  • 5. While you’re at it, practice poses you’ve seen in classic pin-ups, or modern pin-up photos you admire. Have a friend/lover/family member shoot you with a point and shoot or even a camera phone. The quality of the image will suck, but you’ll be able to see if you nailed a flattering pose or not. This way, when you get to your professional shoot, you’ll be sure and get your money’s worth!
  • 6. Take some time to tell your photographer about what you see as your biggest assets and problem areas. It helps them choose poses and angles to hide what you don’t like, and show off what you do. A good photographer should be able to pose for just about anything.
  • 7. Mention any moles, birthmarks, scars that you are self conscious about. The photographer doesn’t know whether you consider your mole a “beauty mark” or a “flaw”, so be specific about what you want wiped out in Photoshop.
  • 8. Understand that you “Get What You Pay For”. If you want good, professional-looking shots for your portfolio, expect to pay a professional that has proven results if you want to build a great portfolio. Same is true for make-up and hair. If the photographer doesn’t provide these services, take the time to find a good MUAH artist that can take care of you. Bad styling makes for bad photos.
  • 9. Photoshop is a tool, not a miracle worker! The misconceptions of Photoshop drive me nuts! Photoshop is a tool to create certain effects, create an image entirely (like with green screen shoots), or to fix minor flaws. If a “photographer” offers to fix exposure or lighting in Photoshop — find another photographer. This is just a bad cover for their lack of lighting experience and knowledge.

Over photoshopped images is also a huge pet peeve of mine — images with total lack of clarity are just not quality images. You want an image of an enhanced you — not someone unrecognizable. If you want a painting — get a painter. You should be realistic — do not expect to lose 20 years or 20 pounds through Photoshop. Expect a beautiful image of the true you.

  • 10. Make a CD or bring a loaded MP3 player with all of your favorite songs. Have the photographer play it while you pose. It will help you relax and have more fun.
  • 11. Always have double stick tape. This will help keep clothing where it should be while providing maximum cleavage.
  • 12. Be on time, but not more than 15 min early. Photographers usually have tight shooting schedules. By arriving late, you are cheating yourself out of time. By arriving early, you are cheating someone else.
  • 13. Don’t be afraid to be over dramatic, and really ham it up. Those “cheesy” ones are very often the best.
  • 14. When posing, try to keep your tongue firmly glued to the roof of your mouth. This will slim your face, and cut down on the double chin.
  • 15. Always, always, always point your toes! Your feet should never be at a 45 degree angle. Pointing your toes adds grace, while elongating and emphasizing the shape of your legs.
  • 16. On the same note pay close attention to your hands and keep them soft. Imagine you are holding a raw egg in the palm of your hand, and keep the hands soft and graceful. Study ballet hand positions. Nothing ruins a great shot like hard and sharp angles or fists with the hands.
  • 17. If the costuming is not provided- make sure you have a matching set of lingerie that fits well. Try on what you are bringing ahead of time. It really sucks when people show up with things they haven’t worn in years, or brand new stuff they haven’t worn before — and get all dressed up — just to hate the way the clothing fits them.

On the subject of wardrobe — there is a huge difference between a quality corset with steel or animal boning, and a cheap plastic off the rack clearance item. A quality corset will enhance your bust, and slim your waist dramatically. A cheap “corset” will just make your torso into an unflattering box shape.

  • 18. Create lots of angles with your body without pointing a joint to the camera. Never point elbows, knees, or armpits directly to the camera; this is extremely unflattering. Instead create angles where these joints are pointing away from the camera.
  • 19. When doing those “staring off to the side shots” stare into the photographers strobe light (softbox, umbrella, whatever) but not past it. The light will brighten your eyes and be flattering. If you look further than the light, not only will your eyes be dull and dark, but you’ll show too much of the whites of your eyes, giving a zombie effect.
  • 20. Trust your photographer. If you’ve taken the time to research and choose someone because of their reputation and portfolio, don’t insult them by telling them how to do their job. We do this to make you look awesome, and nothing is more frustrating than a client who won’t let us use our experience and training to give you the best possible outcome.

Starting this Tuesday, 05/07/13 , we are doing airbrush tanning for half off!

One tan is originally $30, imagine spending only $15 for a tan that last over a week!

Half off tans are available every tuesday between the hours of 10am-4pm!

Call 405-761-5427 to schedule your appointment today!

Be Prepared for your tan!

Step one: Make sure to exfoliate the skin the before your tan. This will ensure an even tan as well as longer lasting results. Who doesnt want their tan to last longer?

Step two: Wear lose/ baggy clothes to your tanning session. This will help protect your tan from any lines or streaks.

Step three: DO NOT WEAR MAKEUP OR DEODORANT TO YOUR TANNING SESSION. If you have deodorant or makup on where the tanning solution sprays, it will turn green. Not permantently, but you will look pretty funny until you take a shower.

Step four: Do not shower again until 8 hours after your tanning session.

We have just introduced our client base to a whole new type of tannning product!

Naked Sun

Naked Sun Spray Tanning Solutions will provide each client with a rich natural tan. Naked Sun Solutions use natural humectants such as Glycerin, Sorbitol, and Hyaluronic acid to moisturize the skin and support sunless tan development without added stickiness. Naked Sun Spray Tanning products are the only solutions to use an Eco-Cert approved preservatives. Choose between Bronze Beauty for Light-Medium skin tones, or Tropical Beauty for medium to dark skinned clients.

Design Philosophy: Be the Anti-Oxidant Sunless Tan. Potent anti-oxidants can protect against premature skin aging, provide a more skin friendly sunless tan, improve the tonality of the sunless tan (less yellow tone), and speed sunless tan development.

Model: Formulate only with botanical and natural ingredients. You would expect our DHA to be EcoCert Organic certified. But so is our preservative! (No other brand can claim this)

Inspiration: Plants cannot escape their environment and must stand their ground against environmental stresses. Plants in hostile environments need even stronger defenses. Plant compounds such as polyphenols and terpenes provide powerful antioxidant defenses that can neutralize free radicals.

Problem: Up to 80% of skin aging is from photo-aging and chemicals and pollutants. Further, free radicals may interfere with the sunless tan reaction in unwanted side reactions potentially affecting coloration and skin safety.

Solution: Green Coffee Extract and Spectrum 360. Green Coffee Extract is the cornerstone of our approach. It has a higher antioxidant activity than any fruit or vegetable common to our diet. Spectrum360 is a proprietary anti-oxidant extract from a number of fruits, vegetables and spices -- acai, blueberry, and ginseng to name a few. This extract protects against all five free radical types -- not just one like most other anti-oxidant skin care products.

We recommend each client exfoliate in the shower before coming and getting and air brush tan, this will allow your tan to last longer.

We also recommend wearing lose clothes to better protect the tan, this will not stain your clothes.

Make sure to not put lotion on the day of your airbrish tan!
